Linen — The Gold Standard for Heat

Linen is made from flax fibres and has been worn in hot climates for thousands of years for good reason. It is the most breathable natural fabric available. The weave structure of linen creates natural air pockets that allow heat to escape from the body while letting cool air circulate against the skin.

Key advantages of linen in Indian summers:

• Absorbs up to 20% of its own weight in moisture before feeling damp
• Dries quickly — moisture wicks away faster than cotton
• Does not cling to the body in humidity
• Gets softer and more comfortable with every wash

For those who prefer the structure and slight formality of cotton, Giza cotton is the best choice for Indian heat. Its extra-long fibres create a looser, more breathable weave than standard cotton, and the natural lustre adds a quiet elegance to the fabric.

Giza cotton handles humidity better than regular cotton because it does not lose its shape when damp. It breathes well in dry summer heat and holds up in coastal climates. It is also lighter than many cotton weaves, which helps in April and May when even a moderate shirt weight feels like too much.
